As someone who is deeply committed to supporting maternal health and family well‑being, I’m especially excited to share this opportunity. In addition to my work with Herbal Phoenix STL—where I focus on holistic wellness, natural remedies, and community-centered healing—I’m also privileged to serve on the STORK committee. Being part of this group allows me to advocate for families across Missouri and help strengthen the support systems that surround pregnant and parenting individuals in recovery. It’s an honor to contribute to this work and to help connect peers with training that truly makes a difference in the lives of the families we serve.
The Missouri Perinatal Quality Collaborative (MO PQC), in partnership with the Missouri Hospital Association, is pleased to offer a free training opportunity for peer support specialists interested in obtaining the Pregnant and Parenting Families (PPF) credential through the Missouri Credentialing Board (MCB).
This opportunity is part of MO PQC’s ongoing effort to support and expand Missouri’s peer workforce in the maternal health space. To do this, we have partnered with MCB to make the PPF training available at no cost for a limited number of peers. The goal of the training is to help prepare peers to meet the unique and diverse needs of pregnant and parenting families in early recovery. Because recovery and parenting both occur in the context of relationships, this training is designed to help participants build skills to support and strengthen families as they grow and develop in their roles as nurturing parents.
Training Topics Include:
Working with individuals and families through pregnancy, delivery, and parenting babies with NAS/NOWs
Fostering and strengthening nurturing parent/child relationships within the context of recovery support services
Being a catalyst for growth in recovery through person-centered Recovery Planning
Coordinating with others in your community that support families with young children
Training Format & Credentialing:
The Mid-America Addiction Technology Transfer Center and MCB have collaborated to develop the training program Providing Recovery Support Services for Pregnant and Parenting Families. This training includes a 5‑hour online self‑study course plus a two‑day live virtual training, for a total of 21 training contact hours. Participants who complete both components will be eligible to apply for the initial PPF credential from MCB. There is no additional cost for the initial credential, as the fee is included in the training cost.
